Description: Wel-Cote Crack Patch Kit contains 60’ of Joint Tape, 1 Gallon of Joint Compound and a repair knife. Everything needed for invisible repair of ceiling cracks and holes on plaster and wallboard surfaces. Wel-Cote Crack Patch can also be used to finish dry wall joints and texture interior surfaces. The kit contains Ready-Mixed Crack Patch compound, reinforcing tape, a wide repair knife and complete set of illustrated instructions. User friendly, Crack Patch Compound dries white and contains no asbestos. Preparation: Apply over completely clean, dry and dust-free surfaces. Fill or spot nail heads. Room temperature should be at least 50° F with adequate ventilation to ensure proper drying. Mixing: Crack Patch Compound is ready to use right out of the container. Application: To Repair Cracks-Centering at the crack line, apply Crack Patch Compound over crack line. Using repair knife smooth area gently but firmly so that tape is in tight contact with compound, and all excess material is removed. Repairing Holes-Holes 2½" diameter or less may be repaired by filling with Crack Patch Compound. Then spread additional compound around the hole. Embed and secure tape across the void. If hole is larger than 2", more than one piece of tape will be required. Butt pieces over center of hole. Smooth and wipe away excess compound with repair knife. If hole is larger than 2½", refer to instruction sheet in the Wel-Cote Crack Patch Kit. Finishing Dry Wall Joints-With repair knife, apply a 4" wide swath of Crack Patch Compound evenly over edges to be joined for the entire length of joint. Center reinforcing tape in compound over joint, and using the repair knife, press tape firmly into compound. Draw knife over taped area and on each side of tape to remove surplus compound. Texturing-Make sure area to be textured is completely dry. Thin Crack Patch Compound slightly with clean water. For lighter textures, additional water may be added. Using a roller, sponge or brush, apply compound and finish in desired pattern. IT’S A GOOD IDEA TO EXPERIMENT ON SCRAP DRY WALL OR CARDBOARD FIRST. Finishes: Except following a texturing technique, allow to thoroughly dry, and apply a thin layer of compound, feathering out at least 3" beyond tape edges. When completely dry, apply another, thin layer of compound, feathering 8-10" beyond each side of crack. (Spot nail heads during this step if exposed.) When repair is completely dry, smooth with a sanding block. Prime before redecorating. When painting, apply 2 or more coats. Dry time: Allow at least 24 hours to dry (longer if patched area is large, deep or incases of high humidity). Caution: Caution and Warning: Keep Out of Reach of Children. Do Not Take Internally. Dust created by dry sanding may cause eye, nose, throat or upper respiratory irritation. Long term breathing of large amounts of mica or talc may cause lung disease. This product contains small amounts of naturally-occurring Crystalline Silica that has been identified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer as a Carcinogen.
