Description: Wel-Cote Mold Coating is an extremely hard and durable refractory base coating that is designed to protect the surface of the mold and add to the smoothness of the finish of the casting, thereby reducing misruns. At the same time, the coating protects the cast iron or steel surfaces from scaling caused by extreme temperature changes and flame impingement. It also provides an excellent base for insulating coatings. The principle use is on molds that are used to cast aluminum ingot. It also serves as an excellent coating to protect steel ladles, protection tubes and skimmers.

Surface Preparation: Surface to be coated should be clean. Sand blasting may be necessary if the mold has other mold coating on it.

Mixing: Stir the contents thoroughly and dilute with enough water to allow spraying (1:1 ratio). T

Application: Apply the coating as a thin mist, preferably with an atomizer-type spry to the clean surface that is heated to approximately 400° F. In order to obtain an even spread, keep the spray gun perpendicular to the surface.

Equipment: Wel-Cote Mold Coating should be applied with atomizing spray equipment.

Finishes: Mold Coating will impart a smooth finish on molds when properly applied.

Dry time: Allow 20 minutes of dry time between coats, and before putting into service.

Coverage (approximate): Coverage will vary depending on dilution and coats applied.

Caution: Goggles, face shield, and gloves should be worn when applying. Avoid prolonged contact with skin or breathing of the spray mist.

Limited Warranty: This product is warranted to be uniform and of the highest quality. Welco shall not assume any responsibility, directly or indirectly, for any loss caused by application of this product not in accordance with directions. All labor costs are excluded from this warranty. Welco liability under this warranty shall in no case exceed the purchase price of the quantity of Welco product used with respect to which damages may be claimed. All claims shall be considered null and void unless submitted within 30 days from date of alleged defect.
