Description: Wel-Cote Thermocote is a radiant heat cable coating intended for covering cable stapled to ceiling wallboard. Use it prior to application of sprayed-on simulated acoustical texture or paint. Surface Preparation: Apply 1/2" ceiling board or 5/8" wallboard to ceiling according to manufacturer's directions and accepted drywall application methods. Tape joints and ceiling angles with joint cement and drywall tape according to industry standards. One application of joint cement is acceptable before installation of radiant heat cable. After joint cement is dry, install cable over ceiling board according to local code and the specifications of the cable manufacturer. Mixing: Mix only what can be used within two hours. Use tools that are completely clean and free of previously mixed Thermocote or any foreign material. Water must be cool and of drinking water quality. Slowly add 25 lbs. to two gallons of water and stir thoroughly with a mechanical mixer. Add sufficient additional water (approximately 2 quarts) to obtain desired viscosity for application. Wash tools and pails completely clean before mixing next batch. Application: 1. Spray or trowel over ceiling, using cable as guide. Wipe material flush, being careful to fill all voids. 2. Allow to cure overnight, and apply second coat to cover cable completely and trowel smoothly. Carefully square all angles and smooth to fill any voids completely. Equipment: Wel-Cote Thermocote can be applied with spray equipment or with a trowel. Finishes: Wel-Cote Simulated Acoustical Textures may be applied immediately after the final application of Thermocote and when the Thermocote is still wet or after the Thermocote is dry. Other ceiling paints should be applied only after Thermocote has cured (see next step). Do not apply any paint, simulated acoustical texture or other decorative finish while heat is on or until ceiling has cooled to room temperature. Dry time: To insure the satisfactory performance of Thermocote, a minimum temperature of 55° must be maintained during application and for seven consecutive days thereafter, before electric cable is turned on. After Thermocote has cured for seven days, electric heat may be turned on. Set thermostat 5° above room temperature and increase 5° each day until it is set for 85°. Coverage (approximate): One bag of Thermocote will cover 40 ft² with two coats. Packaging: FTHR-129---------------- 25lbs. ----------- 25.2lbs.
