Wel-Cote Contractor’s Cement Paint is a sand finish (aggregate type), Portland cement base paint. It is effective for filling, sealing and decorating porous masonry surfaces. Wel-Cote Contractor’s Cement Paint is recommended for porous concrete, stucco, cinder block and all other porous masonry surfaces except floors. This product may be used either inside or out – above or below ground. Wel-Cote Contractor’s Cement Paint is NOT recommended for use on floors, gypsum plaster or magnesite stucco. Surface Preparation: Surface should be free of all grease, form oil or paint; and porous to a point where it will readily accept water. Surfaces previously treated with cement base sealer paint may be painted with this material if the surface has sufficiently weathered to readily accept water or if etched with a 20% solution of muriatic acid. Wear rubber gloves and eye protection when working with acid. Brush the acid solution on with a long handled brush and allow solution to remain on the surface for 1 hours (or until acid completely dissipates). Flush with clean water before application of Wel-Cote Contractor’s Cement Paint. Mixing: Mix in a clean metal container at a rate of about 4 quarts of clean water to one 25 Lb. bag. Add water gradually to powder while stirring with paddle. Let stand for about 20 minutes, and stir again before using. Additional water may be necessary to bring mixture to a good painting consistency. Properly mixed Wel-Cote Contractor’s Cement Paint should easily flow from the brush. Application: Wet the wall thoroughly before each coat. Surface should be as wet as possible without showing running water. Wet only as much area as can be coated before drying. On extremely porous surfaces, apply the first coat with a stiff bristle brush and work the material into the pores with a scrubbing motion. On smoother surfaces and second coats, flow Wel-Cote Contractor’s Cement Paint with a full brush, as you would paint. Equipment: The stiff bristle Wel-Cote Water Seal Brush works well for porous surfaces and first coats. Wel-cote Coater Brush is the best brush for applying Wel-Cote Contractor’s Cement Paint. Finishes: When Wel-Cote Contractor’s Cement Paint has thoroughly cured, the surface may be painted with any good masonry paint. Paint a test panel first to determine whether the surface is cured. If not thoroughly cured, may prove harmful to masonry paint. Dry time: Allow 24-48 hours of cure time before painting with a latex based paint. Allow 3 weeks of cure time if painting with an epoxy based paint. Coverage (approximate): Average coverage for extremely porous surfaces is 2 to 2½ pounds per square yard, and 1 to 1½ pounds per square yard for smooth surfaces and second coats. All new surfaces should receive two coats. Packaging: FCCP-503------------25 Lb. Bag------------------25.2 Lbs. Caution: Do not mix more material than can be used in four hours. Do not apply in temperatures below 40° F. Do not re-coat with epoxy coating. Warning: Product is alkaline on contact with water. Keep Out of Reach of Children. Do Not Take Internally.
